Denim Pillow (Right)

Starting at the top right ... lots of travelling vines, some tatted bits and floral baskets. On the last two pics at the right ... the royal blue bit was something new that I had tried out...a line of woven cross stitch flowers ... in Ribbon Floss. There's another one on the left side done in yellow PCR which shows up much better...but I really like the definition of the Floss.

That denim and CQ is a hot combination!
Those green leaves on the left in the first picture...they do look vaguely familiar....they're not what I think they are, are they? ;-)

Hi Allie ... I love how denim while somewhat monochromatic has distinct colour variations that make it a fabulous canvas.

Funny you should say that about those leaves...and tho it's not what I intended or had in mind when I stitched them ... but my son commented that he thought they were too...I was simply creating.

This is going to be a very long wearing pillow.. so beautiful and functional...

my mom makes tied quilts for the grandchildren from denim she gathers from yard sales.. I don't think they will ever wear out!!!

Hi Gwen ... I'm sure that you're right about the pillow ... it really does seem to stand up to use and am sure it'll stand the test of time. I am not a quilter per se ... but I did make each of the kids and ourselves tied denim quilts too ... wayyyy many years back...only error was the backing as I used recycled old cotton flanel shirts that started to shread...but one day I'll use some decent twill or such to redo the backs & get them back into use. They are so comfy & warm.

Denim is such a great fabric in itself, you really don't have to do a lot to dress it up. And I love how how you kept your stitches so simple. It's a really attractive combination!
I especially like the feather stitch with the alternating green leaves! Maybe that's what Allison is talking about too? I'll have to go back and look.
